Approval of the suitcases

Approval of briefcases, trunks and other containers for transporting money – fraud or mere verbal abuse?

As a manufacturer of approved and certified containers for the transport of valuables, money and documents containing information of a specific security classification, we are increasingly confronted with the phenomenon of the approval of suitcases, trunks and other containers for the transport of money.

In our view, this phenomenon is highly reprehensible, as it deliberately misleads the user in order to defraud and often gives false hope of security.

What is the reprehensibility in this case?

Definition of approval

An approval is a document confirming the permission of an official body to use a particular product within a certain range, within a country. In the case of approval, the official institution may be a judicial authority, a department of a ministry or a ministry, an academic or an expert body. The way these institutions operate is based on strictly defined rules and standards. Based on these, the institution decides whether approval can be granted. Today, many products have approval. This document ensures that the product in question meets all the key requirements for this type of object, for example with regard to safety or environmental impact.

To summarise the definition:

Approvals are issued by public bodies.
Public authorities issue approvals based on an established, strict set of rules (written and published).

According to the definition, there is no phenomenon of approval of products by their manufacturers or by a company hired for this purpose. In this situation, the execution of the approval of its own or third-party products by a commercial company for a fee seems to be an abuse in the semantic layer and a simple fraud in the formal-legal layer.

Business Supply Centre statement on approval.

  • Our company has never offered or suggested in any way to its institutional or individual customers to carry out the approval process for its own or third-party products.
  • Our company has never authorised any other company to carry out the approval of our products.
  • Nor have we ever authorised any other company or third party to carry out maintenance, service and ad hoc repairs to our products.
  • Users of our products may benefit from maintenance care offered to them by way of a commercial offer, complementary to a sales or repair transaction.

From the last moment – in the context of the new MIAA regulation of 2021 – it is sad to say, but the so-called legislator also does not understand the concepts it uses.
